How to play fantasy cricket for IPL

The learning path

This page is the linear walkthrough. Read top to bottom, follow the links, and 35 minutes later you have an account, a verified KYC, a deposited wallet, a picked team, and an entered contest. Total cost ₹500 (first deposit). Expected first contest score: learning baseline. The walkthrough covers the steps in sequence so no step is dependent on a future page.

Step 1 — pick your operator

Open the operator comparison page and pick the platform that matches your play style. Dream11 if you want depth. My11Circle if you want UPI speed. MPL if you want a wider game mix. Vision11 if you want low entry fees. Each platform has the same core flow but small UX differences. The signup walkthrough below uses Dream11 as the reference; the other platforms mirror closely.

Step 2 — open an account

Tap Sign Up, enter your mobile number, get an OTP, set a password. Add full name as on PAN, date of birth (must show 18+), email address. A few platforms ask for state at signup; if you live in a restricted state, the platform blocks the signup. We do not recommend bypassing.

Step 3 — KYC verification

Open KYC in the account dashboard. Upload PAN (front, clear image) and Aadhaar (front + back, or e-Aadhaar download). Some platforms accept driving licence or voter ID instead of Aadhaar. Wait 2-5 minutes for processing. KYC is required to deposit; you cannot fund the wallet without it.

Step 4 — first deposit

Open the wallet, tap Add Money, pick UPI. Enter amount (start at ₹500). Confirm with your UPI app. Most platforms credit the deposit in under 60 seconds. The bonus credit appears within 24 hours if your first deposit triggered a bonus.

Step 5 — first team pick

Open a contest. You will see 22 players (playing XI of both teams once announced). Pick 11. Watch the salary cap. Pick the captain and vice-captain. Lock the team before toss. The team-locking event is the moment the captain pick becomes final.

Step 6 — first contest

Pick a contest: head-to-head at ₹10 entry, or a small grand league at ₹5 entry. Start with head-to-head — fewer opponents, easier to learn the scoring, faster to identify whether your captain logic was correct. Enter the contest. Wait for match time.

Step 7 — watching the match

Open the live leaderboard during the match. Track your captain's score; track your vice-captain's score; spot the differential captain pick if your ownership is low. The live feed is for entertainment and sanity-checking — captain decisions are made at selection, not in-match.

Step 8 — after-match review

Open the contest result and your final rank. If rank 1-10, well done — capture the leaderboard screenshot for your records. If rank 11-100, review the captain pick and the XI for any obvious miss. If rank 100+, review carefully — what went wrong? Was the captain form off? Was the matchup wrong? Was the pitch different?

Step 9 — first withdrawal

Open the wallet, tap Withdraw. Pick UPI. Enter your UPI ID. Enter amount (₹500 minimum typically). Wait 4-15 minutes on Dream11, My11Circle, MPL. Vision11 and PlayerzPot can take 30-60 minutes during peak hours. UPI withdrawal is the test of whether the platform is well run.

Step 10 — repeat and scale

Once you have 5-10 contests under your belt, scale up. Move from ₹10 entry to ₹50 entry. Move from head-to-head to 11-entry grand leagues. Track your ROI in a notebook. After 30 contests you will know your strongest role (powerplay captain, anchor captain, finisher captain, all-rounder captain) and your weakest role. Dial up the strong role, dial back the weak one.

The minimum viable contestant

Five mistakes first-timers make. Depositing too much on day one — start with ₹500. Joining the largest mega contest first — start with head-to-head. Setting the captain on the most-expensive player — set the captain on the role-fit player. Not reading the contest rules — read the rules. Not withdrawing the bonus before the turnover expires — know when the bonus turnover ends.
